Navy Command and Senior Appointments 2024

In a recently released CANFORGEN, Vice Admiral Angus Topshee and Chief Petty Officer (CPO) 1 Tom Lizotte announced navy command and senior appointments.

Along with the command team congratulating the RCN personnel, CANFORGEN 008/24 noted, “Unit-level command appointments are the centre of gravity for RCN culture as we have entrusted you with our most precious asset, our people. Do not betray that trust. Take charge and lead your units with pride and conviction to ensure that they are ready to fight. This should be the highlight of your career to date, and we hope that you enjoy every day of your time in these positions. We have a lot of work to do and you are critical to delivering the navy that Canada needs – now and into the future.”

The CANFORGEN noted the following ranks:

  • Commander (Cdr),
  • Lieutenant-Commander (LCdr),
  • Lieutenant (Navy) (Lt(N),
  • Chief Petty Officers (CPO) and
  • Petty Officers (PO).

The following officer was previously appointed Commanding Officer:

The CANFORGEN closed, stating, “Commanding officer, executive officer and coxswain/unit chief designates for both sea and shore-based RCN units are required to attend the RCN command team course (CTC) preferably in advance of assuming appointments.”

For those designates assuming appointments for both sea and shore-based RCN units at APS 24, CTC 2024 is scheduled for 7 – 9 June 2024, and the location is to be confirmed.
