Bavarian Alps, Germany
The powerful skies above the Bavarian Alps in Germany collide with the autumn scenery in our #SightSeeingSunday image of the week. Nestled within the Bavarian Alps is the Ramsau bei Berchtesgaden village and the Parish Church of St. Sebastian pictured here.
Have a blessed Sunday!
York, England
A cobbled winding street in the city centre of York, England, is front and centre in our #SightSeeingSunday image. Shot at dusk, this historic narrow street lined with preserved medieval buildings has existed since the 14th century. Known as Shambles, the street is one of York’s most famous landmarks and one of the best-preserved medieval shopping streets in Europe. The street is believed to have inspired Diagon Alley from the Harry Potter series movie adaptation. In the late 1800s, the street was known as The Great Flesh Shambles, as it was home to 31 butcher shops. Fleshammels, an Anglo-Saxon word, means flesh shelves, where the butchers displayed their meat. Today, the street features cafés, boutiques, and gift shops.
Have a splendid Sunday!

Mallorca, Spain
The heavens and earth meet in this otherworldly #SightSeeingSunday image of the week. Under the Milky Way, an illuminated road leads to the Far de Formentor lighthouse on the island of Mallorca, Spain. Mallorca, also known as Majorca, is the largest island in the Balearic Islands. The islands were first colonized by humans around 2500–2300 BC. Mallorca is the seventh largest island in the Mediterranean, making it a popular tourist destination.
Have a marvellous Sunday!
Drumheller, Alberta
Happy (pre) Canada Day! This week’s #SightSeeingSunday features hoodoos in Drumheller, Alberta. These unique formations, also known as tent rocks, fairy chimneys or earth pyramids, are more than just a picturesque sight. Illuminated in the sun under the big, bright, blue Alberta sky, the hoodoos in Drumheller were deposited between 70 and 75 million years ago during the Cretaceous Period. Composed of clay and sand, the hoodoos symbolize the Canadian Badlands. Hoodoos are found worldwide, typically in desert-like, dry, hot areas. However, Drumheller can be cold in the winter.
Have a historical Sunday!
Southern Alps, New Zealand
The Southern Alps in New Zealand vies for a top spot as one of the beautiful sunset scenes in our #SightSeeingSunday photo of the week. Pictured here is a sunset just over the bend of the Clutha River, with the majestic peaks of the Southern Alps gracing the horizon. The Clutha River, New Zealand’s second-longest river, stretches 338 km, with the Southern Alps spanning approximately 500 km from northeast to southwest in this Pacific island country.
Have an informative Sunday!
Peggy’s Cove Lighthouse, Nova Scotia
The sun illuminates the sky behind Nova Scotia’s famous lighthouse, Peggy’s Cove, in our #SightSeeingSunday image of the week. Established in 1868, Peggy’s Cove Lighthouse draws eager tourists from across the country each year.
Have a lovely Sunday!
Zaandam, Netherlands
Nothing feels more like spring than colourful fields of exquisite tulips. And that’s why the Zaanse Schans in the Netherlands is our #SightSeeingSunday image of the week. Known for both its tulips and windmills, the Zaanse Schans neighbourhood is located in the town of Zaandam, near Amsterdam. Pictured here is one of the historic windmills relocated to this area to recreate the look of an 18th-century village.
Have a blessed Sunday!
