Lump Sum Back Pay Arriving as Scheduled

Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) can breathe a sigh of relief with the arrival of the lump sum back pay arriving in their accounts in mid-July pay.

“The mid-month pay will have the backpay that was accurately reflected in the Maple Leaf article,” stated LCol. Nicole Meszaros, Chief Military Personnel Public Affairs officer.

Earlier this year, the CAF announced that a significant raise had been approved by the Treasury Board of Canada. The raise would impact non-commissioned members, general service officers and pilots in the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel and below. Additionally, medical and dental officers will also benefit from the pay increase.

Pay Raise Increase

In just a few days, CAF members will notice the following pay increase:

  • Effective April 1, 2021, is a 1.5 per cent increase;
  • Effective April 1, 2022, is a 3.5 per cent increase;
  • Effective April 1, 2023, is a 3 per cent increase;
  • And effective April 1, 2024, is a 2 per cent increase.

Additionally, a lump sum payment for the three per cent raise from April 2023 to July 2023 will also appear on the mid-July pay.

Along with the lump sum back pay, the increase itself will be compounded and seen on the mid-July pay as well.
