CAF Approves “Remission of Charges” for Single Quarters and Rations

Fees will now be clawed back of single quarters and rations for Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) still in training.

Starting January 1 of this year, the CAF approved “remission of charges” for members who have not reached the Operational Functioning Point.

“This initiative is aimed at ensuring that enrolees to the CAF are comfortably able to meet their family obligations while focusing on their initial DP1 training,” stated CANFORGEN 180/22 announcing the new approval.

However, students enrolled at the Royal Military College are not eligible for these changes because their quarters are considered their residences while in subsidized education.

The CAF advises members that they are still eligible to be taxed for the receipt of free rations and quarters.

Any questions regarding these amendments can be directed to the Administrative Response Centre here.
