Military Spouse Scholarship application closing Sept. 1

Ottawa | Petawawa: For the last five years, Willis College has awarded the “Soldier’s Hero” Military Spouses Scholarship Programme to Canadian Military Spouses.

As a part of their 150th-anniversary celebrations, Willis College created the Solider’s Hero: a scholarship fund for Canadian military spouses valued at $150,000.

Six scholarships will be awarded annually over a consecutive six-year period to military spouses who need financial help to enrol in one of Willis College’s three campuses: Arnprior, Smith Falls, or Ottawa.

Recognize Significant Role

According to the application document for the scholarship, “This was undertaken to recognize the significant role played by military spouses in supporting our troops at home and abroad, and further empower them through education.

Michael Boyd, scholarships coordinator, said the college is also in the process of “launching a new scholarship designed for Military Spouses and their dependents. We expect to have more information on this late in the fall.”
