CAF Military Vehicles Making Way to Vernon Parish, Louisiana

Close to 150 military vehicles are currently making their way from 2nd Division Support Base Valcartier to Vernon Parish, Louisiana, for Exercise JRTC 23-03.

Training Exercise

The vehicles began making their way from the Quebec City area on Nov. 22, 2022, autonomously on flatbeds, according to a Public Service Announcement (PSA) from the Department of National Defence.

They are making their way to U.S. Army installation Fort Polk in Vernon Parish, Louisiana, for a training exercise that will begin in early January. The vehicles will be used at the destination to train approximately 575 soldiers from 5 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group.

Enhanced Combat Skills

“The training of 5 CMBG soldiers at the Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC) will allow them to complete their Enhanced Combat Skills (ECS) training,” stated the PSA.

At the beginning of February, after the training is complete, the vehicles will begin to slowly make their return to 2nd Canadian Division Support Base Valcartier.
