Ninth annual Loops for Troops to be held on Canadian Forces Day

The ninth annual Loops for Troops race will be held on Sunday June 4, at CFB Edmonton.

A signature event of the Edmonton Military Family Resource Centre, Loops for Troops highlights the role of military members and their families and supports the Edmonton MFRC.

“Loops for the Troops Edmonton is held annually on Canadian Armed Forces Day and is dedicated to our Canadian Armed Forces, veterans, first-response services, their families and especially to those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in the service of our country, both at home and abroad. Proceeds from this race support the Edmonton Garrison Military Family Resource Centre,” said Angela Duckworth, Senior Communications Coordinator, Edmonton Garrison Military Family Resource Centre.

Attracting anywhere from 300 to 500 runners from the Edmonton community, Loops for Troops is designed for many skill levels. The event includes a half-marathon, 10 km, 5 km, and Military Mile.

Participants will be rewarded with a pancake breakfast and can enjoy a military vehicle display.

Funds raised from the event will go towards Edmonton MFRC programming and resources for military families in the area.

“It’s an opportunities to show your support for Military Families on Canadian Forces Day,” added Duckworth.

Online registration for Loops for Troops is open until midnight May 31. In-person registration is open until June 2 at 3 p.m. at the Edmonton MFRC or on the day of the race from 7 to 8:30 a.m.
