Highway of Heroes Ceremony honours Veterans at St. Anne’s Hospital

As part of Veterans Week 2017, St. Anne’s Hospital, a primarily veteran-focused hospital in Montreal, QC, held a Highway of Heroes ceremony to pay tribute to their veterans.

On Nov. 6, a number of guest speakers visited the hospital for the ceremony which took place in the hospital’s auditorium, decorated with the valour of Canada’s Veterans.

Guest speakers included Second World War Lt. Wolf Solkin, Kerri Tadeau and retired Master Corporal Collin Fitzgerald, as well as, representatives from Quilts of Valour-Canada.

During the ceremony, Kerry Tadeu, co-founder of Service and Sacrifice, offered quilts to the veterans as a symbol of thanks for their sacrifice in times of war.

“Ms. Tadeu’s gesture is one of the numerous activities she has organized across the country to ensure that those who have fallen in combat are never forgotten,” read a statement released by the hospital.

During the ceremony, MCpl (ret’d). Fitzgerald and Tadeu spoke to audiences about their project earlier in the year which focused on cleaning up the Highway of Heroes. As part of the project, Service and Sacrifice cleaned the on and off ramps of the 172-kilometre stretch of the Highway of Heroes.
