Evening event set to educate military families on entrepreneurship
Kingston Military Family Resource Center (KMFRC), in partnership with Women Mean Business Professional Network, are hosting Empowering Your Future: Inspiring Options in Career & Entrepreneurship event for all military families, actively serving and in the process of releasing.
Sponsored by Iron Mountian, the event is designed for individuals who want to take the next step in their professional journey towards a career in entrepreneurship.
“This is will be a great opportunity for anyone to learn new skills on how to be resourceful and creative as well as learn about programs that exist to support entrepreneurs taking the next step towards making your great ideas realistic pursuits,” says Kristina Pernar, employment services worker, KMFRC.
As employment in a wide range of industries becomes increasingly more precarious and in accordance with the dynamic lifestyle of military families, creating awareness and educating our community on self-employment and entrepreneurship has become more relevant. Pernar hopes this event will also provide the opportunity for new personal and professional connections to be made.
In addition to a night full of education and networking, Claudia Harvey, successful entrepreneur, philanthropist and CEO, Co-Founder of Dig It Apparel Inc, who struck a deal with Kevin O’Leary from Dragon’s Den and Shark Tank, will be the keynote speaker.
Harvey will share details and experiences about her journey to becoming a successful entrepreneur.
“Her wide breadth of knowledge covers everything from emotional success to business and financial success. She is all about inspiring and empowering others with her story and educating on how to nurture a business idea,” says Pernar. “Claudia’s presentation aligns with the KMFRC vision of quality, in bringing high levels of service and information to our military families and community.”
Future entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to see what it takes to move a concept to a viable business and meet established local and national business owners, who have a strong desire to help military families succeed.
It will be hosted at the Warrants and Sergeants Mess at CFB Kingston, November 21 from 5:00pm to 7:30pm. Tickets for this event are on sale now on the KMFRC website. Click here for more information.
