Edmonton welcomes new military families at Picnic

To welcome new families of CFB Edmonton, the local Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC), in partnership with the local Personnel Support Programs (PSP), is hosting its second annual Community Picnic and Fall Expo.

Families attending the event will have a chance to meet with the Edmonton Garrison MFRC staff, tour the centre and enjoy a delicious catered picnic. Children can enjoy a variety of activities including visiting a petting zoo, a balloon artist, face painting and more.

Families can also take part in prize drawings and axe throwing.

The event is a perfect way for new families or families who have been in the area for some time, to mingle and learn more about what the base has to offer.

“This is the perfect opportunity to find out about all of the new and upcoming programs on base,” said Angela Duckworth, senior communications coordinator, Edmonton Garrison Military Family Resource Centre.

The Community Picnic and Fall Expo will take place Thursday, Sept. 7 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the field behind the MFRC.

Registration is now closed. However, families can still drop-by the event.
