Applebee’s Neighbourhood Bar & Grill hosts CAF members on Remembrance Day

The casual dining chain, Applebee’s Neighbourhood Bar & Grill, is welcoming veterans and currently serving CAF members to enjoy a meal on the house this Remembrance Day for the seventh annual “Neighbours Thanking Neighbours” campaign.

The chain, with locations across the U.S. and Canada, hosts this event to recognize and appreciate members of the CAF. Since its inception seven years ago, Applebee’s has served more than 7,300 free meals to veterans and currently serving personnel.

“Remembrance Day is a solemn day, but a day to celebrate the sacrifices that the members of the Canadian Military Service have made, and continue to make, to keep Canada safe and preserve liberty.

“Welcoming these brave men and women by serving them a free meal is our way of showing how much all of our team members recognize and appreciate their contribution to our freedom. Watching our guests in the restaurants use this as an opportunity to thank our military personnel as well makes this Applebee’s tradition a very moving, and very rewarding day for all of us,” said Daniel del Olmo, President of International, DineEquity, Inc., the parent company of Applebee’s.

The campaign isn’t just about giving members a free meal but celebrating the services of military members at a local level. The restaurant invites CAF members and veterans to come out and share their stories and experiences with the local community. Applebee’s also encouraged guests to celebrate the sacrifices of the men and women in uniform by leaving a note of appreciation on the “Thank You Wall Posters” in early Nov. The posters will be visible for all CAF personnel and veterans who step into an Applebee’s this Remembrance Day.

Those wishing to sign a poster can find them at a local establishment or on the Applebee’s Canada Facebook page.

Several restaurant favorites are featured on the Remembrance Day menu provided to the CAF members and veterans coming into dine at Applebee’s. Menu items include the 7 oz. House Steak, Chicken Fingers Platter, Double Crunch Shrimp, Fiesta Lime Chicken, Bacon Cheddar Cheeseburger, Oriental Chicken Salad and the Three-Cheese Chicken Penne.

Any U.S. veterans and currently serving personnel in Canada are included in this offer. Applebee’s chains across the U.S. are also welcoming Canadian veterans and military personnel to enjoy a free meal in celebration of Veteran’s Day, also celebrated on Nov. 11.

To enjoy this free meal veterans and active duty personnel need to provide proof of service by either providing a valid ID or coming to dine in uniform. Valid ID includes: permanent ID card for active personnel, temporary ID card for reservists, veteran’s card or photograph in uniform.
