Family Fun at the Ottawa Parent and Child Expo

To celebrate its fifth anniversary, the Ottawa Parenting Times Magazine is hosting the Ottawa Parent and Child Expo on Oct. 24 and 25 at the Nepean Sportsplex.

“The show is a promotion of over 40 exhibitors in the Ottawa area. They will be presenting their products and services, talking about their organizations, their clubs, their registration options, their summer camps and more to better inform Ottawa parents about what they have to offer,” said Peter Ausland from the Ottawa Parenting Times Magazine.

This two-day event is an affordable weekend outing for the entire family. Parents can take advantage of the opportunity to learn more about local services like French immersion options, local education, parent and child fitness, family health and wellness and summer camps. Parents also have the opportunity to speak with local parenting experts for any questions or concerns they may have.

While parents learn about services, children can, enjoy play zones, have fun creating at the Play-Doh Play Centre, face painting, mascot appearances and the Ottawa Gymnastic Centre’s “Try-It” zone.  The ever popular cartoon character Dora the Explorer and her friend Diego will also be present for a special meet and greet. A lucky few will get a chance to go on stage with Dora or Diego. A limited number of tickets will be distributed daily for children to go on stage.

Three school boards: the Ottawa Catholic School Board, CEPEO and CECCE will also be making presentations about what their boards have to offer.

Early birds to the event walk away with a complimentary show bag. The show bag is a sampling of the different products and services featured at the Expo. The first 750 families to the event on both days will receive a bag.

“We are just making it a family fun affordable weekend where parents can come down check what’s going on, learn some new stuff and have some fun. They walk away having spent a few hours without having to spend an arm and a leg to learn about these services and have some fun with their kids,” said Ausland.

Free parking is available at the rear and front of the Nepean Sportsplex. To purchase tickets or download the $2 off coupon visit www.parentandchildexpo.ca.

The first 20 people to email [email protected] will receive complimentary passes to the Parent and Child Expo. The passes can be used for a family of four on Sunday afternoon between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.
