Women’s Choir group takes stage to kick off festive season
Get a head start into the holiday season at the She Sings! Women’s Choir concert on December 1st at The Spire in Kingston, ON.
She Sings! Women’s Choir is an auditioned singing group that has been performing since 2004 and has premiered and recorded many new treble choir works. These have included works by Martha Hill Duncan, who is the Artistic Director and Conductor of She Sings!, Lavina Kell Parker, David Roe, Rebecca Oswald, and many others.
Cristina Duchesneau has been a member since 2014 and is in charge of publicity and PR for the group.
“I decided to audition for She Sings! because I wanted to experience being part of a women’s choral group. What impressed me the most during my audition was the kindness and warmth of the multi-talented Artistic Director Martha Hill Duncan,” says Duchesneau. “ I have been involved in musical theatre and choral groups since elementary school, and Martha is one of the most humble and generous artists I have ever had the privilege to work with.”
Duchesneau says members of the choir are diverse in age, background and musical training which all share a love of choral music. The choir also includes military family members.
The concert scheduled for December 1st will feature jazzy Christmas and seasonal favourites alongside The Hannah Barstow Trio, with special guest, the Kingston Youth Chorus.
The group performs various concerts throughout the year and offers both performers and audience members an opportunity to get lost in the music and enjoy the sound of over 40 women’s voices coming together in song.
“When I perform with ‘She Sings!’, I experience the exhilaration of performing, the joy of singing as one voice and the undeniable magic of music.”
Tickets can be purchased at Long and McQuade Music, 1057 Midland Ave. or online at www.shesings.ca. Adults: $25, Students: $15 Children under 12: Free
