Petawawa MFRC teams up with Canada Company to offer METSpouse
The Petawawa MFRC is teaming up with Canada Company to become a Military Employment Transition Spouse program (METSpouse) site, allowing spouses to sign up for the program through the MFRC’s Employment Services.
To celebrate this significant milestone, the PMFRC is hosting an official launch on Friday, Dec. 9.
This big launch will bring together local business from the Petawawa area and military spouses. Employers will have the chance to learn more about becoming employer partners and about the diverse range of skill-sets that military spouses have and how that enables them to be valuable employees.
“Personally I’m very proud to be a part of the MFRC and the fact that we have these great partnerships like Canada Company and METSpouse. The support goes a long way for having a positive impact on military families. This particular program will help employees reach their employment goals.” said PMFRC Executive Director Claudia Beswick.
After the launch, spouses interested in look for employment are encouraged to contact the MFRC’s Employment Services Co-ordinator Louise Anderson to sign up for the program.
Signing up for the METSpouse program, says Anderson, will allow spouses to gain access to a self-directed online portal, see job postings, connect with METSpouse employer partners, be invited to Linked In groups and see upcoming opportunities, be invited to in-person and online job fairs put on by employer partners; and receive information on best practices for the METSpouse program and searching for employment as a military spouse.
Employment Services will also promote the METSpouse program through their Job Developer and create connections with local employers. Interested business will then be directed to the national METSpouse Director, Kerry Wheelehan.
The Petawawa MFRC is the first MFRC to offer the program after the completion of the pilot phase at several other MFRCs.
“For the MFRC to be able to offer this program is really amazing. We’re very appreciative of Canada Company,” noted Beswick.
So far, the MFRC’s Employment Services has enrolled ten spouses to the METSpouse program.
