Garrison Petawawa issues public announcement regarding noise levels

Petawawa residents can count on an explosive week as Exercise WINTER GUNNER is set to take place.

According to a public announcement from Garrison Petawawa public affairs office, there will be an increase in noise levels in the vicinity of the Garrison.

Echo Battery, members from 2nd Regiment, Royal Canadian Horse Artillery with the enhanced Forward Presence Battle Group Latvia, conduct a live fire exercise using the M777 Howitzer at camp Ādaži, Latvia on 19 August 2018.

Exercise WINTER GUNNER

“The public is advised that from February 21 to 24, 2023, there will be an increase in noise levels in the vicinity of Garrison Petawawa,” stated the public announcement.

The increase in noise will be due to the 2nd Regiment, Royal Canadian Horse Artillery, conducting Exercise WINTER GUNNER. The training will take place on the outskirts of the Garrison Petawawa Training Area.

“This exercise is crucial in ensuring that our members receive the necessary training to maintain their high level of readiness for future deployments and training.”

The public announcement noted, “we regret any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate the public’s understanding during this period.”
