Military Family Services sharing real stories of military families

Military Family Services (MFS) has recently introduced a new series on social media entitled “#RealMilitaryPeople.” The series hopes to show the general public the real faces and stories of the Defence community.

“What we wanted to do is inform the general public of the challenges that are part of the military lifestyle and how these individuals overcome this on a daily basis. At first, we wanted to only do it on families but then we expanded that to the entire Defence community because everyone has a story to share,” said Richard Séguin, Digital Media Coordinator, Military Family Services.

The stories will include individuals from all walks of life who belong to the Defence community including government officials, spouses, children and military members.

The first stories produced from the series are about a female military member and a spouse. Through an image and short description, both the spouse and military member share their personal struggles. The female military member joined the military in 1982 and as the first woman at the 22nd Regiment faced unique challenges. The military spouse shares the internal invisible war she fought against the CAF for ten years.

You can find the series on Facebook and Twitter by looking up the #RealMilitaryPeople.
