Royal Canadian Navy Maritime Gala set to take place at Hilton Lac Leamy

The second Royal Canadian Navy Maritime Gala is scheduled to be hosted June 15 at Hilton Lac Leamy for all Maritime organization and associations to celebrate Canadian Maritime heritage.

The first gala held in 2010 for the 100th anniversary of the RCN.

“It is a huge importance for RCN and Canadian Coast Guard to come together and celebrate our many successes. A lot of the time we don’t truly come together and celebrate,” said Cheryl Bush, Gala Chair. “The Maritime Gala Ball allows for both the RCN and CCG, both those in uniforms and public servants to come together in a relaxed, but formal setting, and kick up our heels (boots), on the dance floor.”

Bush says the event brings together people from the maritime community, maritime associations, and the maritime defence community to celebrate their success.

This year’s theme is “Celebrating our Maritime Pride.”

Although the event is one night, planning for the Maritime Gala started almost a year ago. Bush is looking forward to seeing how the evening comes together.

“Seeing the joyful smiles around the room, everyone mingling, and having a joyful time, that’s what brings me happiness,” says Bush.

Comedian Ron James will emcee the evening with entertainment by the Sway Band.
