Ready. Set. Go. Resource centre set to host 3rd annual Amazing Race

On Sept. 23, teams from the Hamilton, ON area will race the streets, gathering clues and performing various tasks as part of the 2017 Amazing Race Hamilton in support of the London Military Family Resource Centre (LMFRC).

Now in its third year, the LMFRC’s Amazing Race is a two-person auto adventure that takes participants to famous historical and military commemorative locations around the Hamilton area.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., teams will encounter fun facts and have to complete simple activities, at each leg of the race, that will allow them to earn points and be crowned this year’s Amazing Race Champions.

“It’s a blast,” said Donna Pickering, Outreach Support Coordinator for the LMFRC and organizer of the event.

The race is not timed nor is it competitive and everyone is eligible to win something even if they don’t complete the entire race.

After the race, teams will be awarded with dinner, karaoke, prizes, 50/50 draw, a silent auction and much more.

The Amazing Race is an annual fundraising activity for the LMFRC that goes to supporting military family programs and services in the Hamilton catchment region, such as child and youth and deployment programs.

“It’s supporting the military and their families, especially, in this area. So were just asking if people can come out have some fun, it is a lot of fun,” commented Pickering.

Last year the LMFRC raised just under $4,000. This year, with sponsorships from BMO and Corus Radio, Pickering hopes that number will greatly increase.

To register either call the LMFRC at 905-972-4000 ext. 6623 or email.

There will be specific registration dates at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #58. One on Thursday, August 24, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. and the other on Saturday, September 9, 2017, from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Tickets are $50 per team.

Participants must be 13 years or older, with a guardian, and have their own transportation. Racers must provide proof of valid auto insurance and sign a waiver before participating.
