Military Road Move Travelling through Ontario Cottage Country this Weekend

Soldiers from the 1st Battalion, Royal Canadian Regiment (1 RCR) will be making the more than 400 km journey from Garrison Petawawa to CFB Meaford, accompanied by a large movement of military vehicles, on Oct. 2 and 3rd.

The soldiers will be travelling with light armoured vehicles, trucks and fuel tankers.

The convoy will be passing through Huntsville, Bracebridge, Gravenhurst, Collingwood, and the Town of Meaford.

“During this time the public may also see traffic control points along the route, as well as military vehicles and personnel in waiting areas and refuelling points,” stated a Canadian Armed Forces press release.

Soldiers along the route will be carrying personal weapons, but not live or blank ammunition.

The soldiers will be returning back to Petawawa on Oct. 26.
