Magnificent Canadian expeditions to bring together Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members, veterans, and business leaders

In honour of Canada’s 150th anniversary, True Patriot Love’s (TPL) annual Scotiabank Expedition in 2017 will give participants a taste of the “Best of Canada” with three different expeditions across the country.

The 2017 TPL Scotiabank Expedition will bring together three separate teams of 30 participants, ten Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members or veterans and 20 Canadian business leaders.

“Working as a team to complete a mission, participants will face physical, emotional, and mental roadblocks over a two-week period. By doing so, these individuals will get outside of their comfort zone and become a team,” according to the TPL website.

The first destination in Best of Canada series is the coast of Newfoundland where participants will embark on an intensive sea kayak adventure. Entitled “The Cabot” in honour of European explorer John Cabot, the expedition will take place from June 8-17. Participants will kayak across the Bay of Exploits and Fogo Island.

The next expedition will take place in British Columbia from July 9-23. Dubbed “The Mackenzie” for Sir Alexander Mackenzie, the first person to cross North America, this expedition will take the second team hiking over the Coast Mountains of British Columbia and white water rafting down the Bella Coola River.

The final expedition will take place from July 28 to August 12 in the Northwest Territories. The Douglas expedition, named after Canadian explorer George Douglas, will take the final team on a river trip on the Keele River.

The Expeditions helps to raise funds and awareness for CAF members, veterans, and their families.

Since 2014, the expeditions have raised $200,000. Last year’s expedition took participants to Vinson Massif, Antartica.

TPL is currently looking for CAF veterans and currently serving members to apply for the Soldier Team.

CAF members looking to apply must have sustained an illness or injury due to their service. Any expenses related to the expedition are covered by fundraising initiatives led by the expedition’s civilian participants and TPL. Soldiers applying are also expected to take part in fundraising efforts.

Additionally, soldiers will be part of a mentorship program with Canadian business leaders which will include personality assessment and development coaching to help them transition to civilian life.

Deadline to apply for the Soldier Team is Dec. 19.

In order to apply for the Soldier Team, participants are required to be available for certain dates. For a complete list of these dates and to apply click here. (http://truepatriotlove.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/TPL-Expedition-Best-of-Canada-Soldier-Team-Application-Form_Fillable.pdf).
