Edmonton Military Family Resource Centre to host Women’s Conference on March 18.

To celebrate the women in their community and connect them to one another, the Edmonton Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC) is planning a Women’s Conference on Saturday, March 18.

“We have heard from our community that they are interested in having more social opportunities for adults. The success of similar Women’s Conferences at other MFRC’s prompted us to take a look at offering one in Edmonton,” said Angela Duckworth, Senior Communications Coordinator, Edmonton Garrison Military Family Resource Centre.

The Women’s Conference also comes just days after International Women’s Day.

Attendees will have the chance to participate in three one-hour workshops, of their choosing, that range from creating a terrarium, to meal ideas, to photography to yoga, blogging and more.

After the workshops, attendees will enjoy a buffet dinner and listen to guest speaker, Kim Mills, writer, speakers, advocate for military families and military spouse.

“Beyond having fun and connecting with their peers, we are hoping that women will be encouraged to explore careers they may not have considered and feel empowered and inspired with self-confidence to reach for meaningful opportunities that will guide them to a path of success,” said Duckworth.

The MFRC is expecting around 80 people to attend the event.

The Edmonton MFRC Women’s Conference will be held from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 18 at the Warrant Officers’ & Sergeants’ Mess.

The $25 early bird deadline is Friday, March 3. The regular price is $35. Registration ends March 10.
