It’s Friday! The weekend is almost here, and if you are looking for something exciting to do this weekend, you should check out the upcoming Ski Cross race. The event is being hosted by Calabogie Peaks Resort, which is just outside of Ottawa, on Saturday, January 19, 2019.

This international event and will see over 50 athletes from around the world competing. Countries represented including England, China, Australia, the United States, as well as Canada. The athletes will be competing to qualify for the World Cup circuit next year. Ski Cross only became an Olympic sport in 2010 – and it has been growing fast in popularity. As it happens, Canadian athletes are some of the best at it.

Lucas Ouellett, who is known for constructing snow cross courses for both Olympic and World Cup events, will be building the 800 m ski cross course. There will be exciting contours, banked turned, rollers and much more to keep the athletes busy – especially since they are taking them at speeds of up to 70 km.

Be part of the action! Spectators can watch the race from the bottom of the mountain, by taking a 10-minute hike up the mountain, or ski or snowboard to the starting gate.
