Call for Nominations: Veterans Ombud Commendation Award

Do you know someone or an organization doing amazing work for our CAF and RCMP Veterans and their families?

The Veterans Ombud is pleased to award Commendations every year in four categories to recognize and acknowledge the outstanding commitment and dedication of people across Canada who go above and beyond to support our Veterans community.

Nominations for the Veterans Ombud Commendation need to be submitted by June 10, 2024.

Nomination Categories

“I am inspired by the dedicated leadership and outstanding work done by our Veterans Ombud Commendation recipients in support of Canada’s Veterans and their families. I encourage everyone to nominate those who have made a profound impact in their Veterans community and give them the national recognition they deserve,” said Veterans Ombud Colonel (Ret’d) Nishika Jardine.

National Organization or Group: To recognize the exceptional work and significant contribution of an organization or group with a national scope that has resulted in a long-lasting and positive impact on the well-being of Veterans and their families.

Local organization or group: To recognize the exceptional work and significant contribution of an organization or group that has resulted in a long-lasting and positive impact at the local or regional level on the well-being of Veterans and their families.

Individual: To recognize the exceptional work and significant contribution of an individual that has resulted in a long-lasting and positive impact on the well-being of Veterans and their families at the national or local level.

Lifetime Contribution: To recognize the life-long dedication, exceptional work, and significant contribution an individual has made in supporting or advocating for Veterans and their families.

Nominations must include a completed nomination form and a summary describing why the nominee deserves the Veterans Ombud Commendation.

Submit Nominations

Nominations must include a completed nomination form and a summary describing why the nominee deserves the Veterans Ombud Commendation.

Nominations can be submitted in writing, video or audio format. The nomination submission deadline is June 10, 2024.

The Office of the Veterans Ombud (OVO) has been awarding this honour since 2010.

The OVO reviews complaints and challenges the policies and decisions of Veterans Affairs Canada, where they find individual or systemic unfairness. OVO strives to be an independent and respected voice for fairness and a champion for the well-being of veterans and their families.
