Treasury Board Approves Amendments Service Benefits for Ill and Injured Members

In September, the Canadian Armed Forces released CANFORGEN 152/23 announcing amendments to Compensation of Benefits Instructions (CBI) Chapter 211 Service Benefits for Ill and Injured Members of the Canadian Armed Forces.

“The purpose of this message is to announce that the Treasury Board (TB) has approved amendments to CBI Chap 211, Eff 1 Aug 23,” stated the CANFORGEN.

The amendments include:

  • Expanding the scope of authorized health care providers who may assess a member’s need for particular benefits.
  • Clarifying the non-requirement for quarterly reassessments of a member’s permanent condition to continue receiving a particular benefit.
  • Authorizing the CAF to approve additional amounts for the home assistance benefit when deemed necessary.
  • Improving clarity and flexibility of the next-of-kin travel benefit.

The CANFORGEN noted, “CBI Chap. 11 will be posted to the CBI intranet and internet pages. All personnel are reminded that the official version is the PDF version.”
