The National Air Force Museum of Canada Foundation will hold its annual fall gala on Oct. 21 in support of the National Air Force Museum. The “Out of This World” gala will feature an exclusive book signing and appearance by Royal Canadian Air Force veteran and retired astronaut Chris Hadfield.
“This is a very unique opportunity to be in such a wonderful venue but also to hear Chris Hadfield speak. It’s something specifically he is doing for us. It’s a unique opportunity to have this exclusive book signing with him and be in this amazing venue,” said Brigitte Frances, Development Coordinator for the National Air Force Museum of Canada Foundation.
Close to 300 people are expected to attend this year’s event with a goal of raising upwards of $30,000. The funds will be used for the general upkeep of the museum and the construction of an in-house theatre that will seat 125.
A little over 170 people attended last year’s gala, including core supporters of the museum.
“We’re really excited, and we really want to thank everyone for their time, everyone volunteering and our sponsors for everything they’ve helped to accomplish this year,” said Frances.
A book signing with Chris Hadfield will take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Cocktail hour begins at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 p.m. Followed by another exclusive book signing.
