Are you ready for a deployment? Virtual workshop to share strategies

If a deployment is on your radar, then the Halifax and Region Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC) Preparing for Deployment online workshop is a must for you.

This free, virtual workshop will teach military spouses strategies and arm them with the sources they need to combat any challenge during a deployment.

Specifically, spouses will learn about what they will need prior to the deployment, such as banking information and power of attorney, and communication techniques.

According to Margaret MacKenzie, in charge of Virtual Training and Program Development for the Halifax and Region MFRC, spouses communicate in all different ways with their partners during a deployment.

“The important thing to know is whatever works for the couple, with the team, is what you have to work with,” said MacKenzie.

Spouses will also learn about the different stages from pre-deployment to deployment to post-deployment and what to expect on the member’s return.

The MFRC has received a great deal of positive feedback from past Preparing for Deployment workshops.

“Most of the feedback has been ‘oh my gosh, I’m not alone,’ shared MacKenzie.

Because it is a virtual workshop, military spouses from coast to coast can participate in the workshop from any location in the country.

“The beauty of the interactive online program is that you can ask questions and learn information from the comfort of your own personal computer. It will never take away from that one-on-one you get from MFRC, but it just enhances it,” said MacKenzie.

The Halifax and Region MFRC Preparing for Deployment Online Workshop will take place Thursday, June 13 at 8 p.m. AST. To register click here.
