The majestic peaks of King George Island, Antarctica, greet members of His Majesty’s Canadian Ship MARGARET BROOKE in our favourite photo of the week.
Pictured here is ice specialist Donavan Tremblay, with the Canadian Coast Guard looking out of the ship’s bridge window as HMCS Margaret Brooke inches closer to Admiralty Bay, King George Island, Antarctica. The image was captured on March 2, 2025, during Operation PROJECTION.
Operation PROJECTION is the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) mission to support Canada’s global engagement in certain regions of the world to promote stability. This operation involves the deployment of Royal Canadian Navy ships, often to the Indo-Pacific, the Caribbean, and West Africa, to conduct exercises, training, and security cooperation with allied and partner nations. The operation enhances Canada’s presence in international waters, strengthens defence partnerships, and upholds maritime law.
