New sub-types of compassionate leave allowed

The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) announced three new sub-types of compassionate leave on Sept. 23, 2021.

These sub-types fall under the Canadian Forces Leave Policy Manual outlined in chapter seven.

Starting on Aug. 19, 2021, members can request compassionate leave for the following purposes:

    1. Situations of loss as a result of a miscarriage, termination of pregnancy and adoption or pregnancy loss.
    2. Victims of violence
    3. Parents of family violence
    4. Parents of young victims of crime

A list of these changes can be found here.

Any questions can be sent to the Administrative Response Centre (ARC).
