As we head into the heart of March, the snow keeps dragging on for many Canadians. Although spring may still seem distant, the continued snow makes for cozy television watching. So, here’s our roundup of the best streaming has to offer.

Everything Everywhere All at Once | PrimeVideo

The buzz around this movie is so great that it has snagged most of the top prizes at this year’s Oscars. This best-picture film is about a middle-aged Chinese immigrant who becomes an unlikely hero when there’s a multidimensional rupture. Starring Michelle Yeoh (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny), Ke Huy Quan (Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom), and Jamie Lee Curtis (Halloween). Watch trailer here.

Navalny | CraveTV

CNN and HBO-Max’s award-winning film Navalny is now available on Crave. The documentary chronicles the rise, attempted assassination, and personal story of Alexey Navalny, the Russian opposition leader. Canadian documentary film director Daniel Roher won an Oscar for the documentary. Watch trailer here.

 

Das Boot | CBC Gem

Das Boot, German for The Boat, is the sequel to the 1981 film of the same name. The German television series picks up in late 1942, nine months after the film, and focuses on the resistance to German occupation on land in France and Europe and the events at sea during the Battle of the Atlantic. The movie is considered one of the greatest German films and was ranked #25 in Empire magazine’s “The 100 Best Films of the World Cinema” in 2010. There are four seasons. Watch trailer here.

 

The Head | CBC Gem

This Spanish thriller series tells the tale of a group of scientists stationed at an International base in Antarctica. As winter fall on the South Pole, with the sun slowly disappearing for the next six months, a team remains at the research station to pursue their innovative research to fight climate change. However, their time at the station takes a terrifying turn when they stop communication with the outside world. Beyond Paradise | BritBox

New to BBC, Beyond Paradise is a spin-off of the popular comedy-drama series Death in Paradise. It follows Detective Inspector Humphrey Goodman in his new adventures after leaving the island of Saint Marie. Starring Kris Marshall (Love Actually), Sally Bretton, Zahra Ahmadi. Watch trailer here.

 

Mount Pleasant | Acorn

From one of the writers of Shameless comes Mount Pleasant. Mount Pleasant delves into the lives of the tight-knit community members living in this Manchester suburb. Starring Sally Lindsay (The Madame Blanc Mysteries) and Daniel Ryan (The Bay). Watch trailer here.

 

Ted Lasso | Apple TV

Released this week to eager audiences, season three of Apple TV’s popular two-time Emmy award-winning show revolves around an American football coach Ted Lasso, who is hired to manage a British soccer team. Needless to say, what follows is an onslaught of triumphs, lows and tons of comedy. Starring Jason Sudeikis (Saturday Night Live), Hannah Waddingham (Game of Thrones), Brett Goldstein.
